I'm a pretty happy camper. When I first came back in January, my bak immediately started spasming. So, I started searching for just the right professional. But, my back got worse and somewhat randomly, I went to the most local chiropractor and told him I was in pain.
Well, he turned on the electricity, the ultrasound, and did some manipulations. He also gave me some specific stretches and has me on a roller table. And by week 2, I was feeling much better. I just finished week3 which included four days in a row of working out:
Saturday - Bugo - I got pathetically tired but that's another question.
Sunday - A mile and a half run
Monday - 5pm class
Tuesday - 7:30 class
And I'm feeling fine. I'm a happy camper. Thank you Dr Eric Zecca (is is possible that there's no website for him? - i can't find one. He's on Commercial at 2746 near Bayview)

I suffered with back pain all my life, been to countless chiropractors and will also have my black belt at 50.
If you get the opportunity go to someone that does Rolfing, its a sysem of soft tissue manipulation similar to trigger point therapy.
What it does is realign the body structurally and harmonize it in relation to gravity.
Been going for about 6 weeks now and from my first visit its the first time in 10 months I've been without pain.
I feel for you. Major muscle spasms are sheer agony. I used to get severe back spasms in my upper back due to my scoleosis (crooked spine). About 15 years ago a D.O. told me to pick up a tape on beginner's yoga stretching. I've been doing 5-10 minutes of basic, easy yoga stretching every morning since then. I get up, start the coffee-maker and then lie down on the floor and stretch until the coffee is done.
I credit the stretching with the fact that over the past 15 years I have had only a half dozen major spasm episodes (usually from over-exertion). Before I began the morning stretches, I was having major episodes on a quarterly basis. I still have chronic back pain but without the stretching, it would be far, far worse.
