About 15 years ago a D.O. told me to pick up a tape on beginner's yoga stretching. I've been doing 5-10 minutes of basic, easy yoga stretching every morning since then. I get up, start the coffee-maker and then lie down on the floor and stretch until the coffee is done.

I credit the stretching with the fact that over the past 15 years I have had only a half dozen major spasm episodes (usually from over-exertion). Before I began the morning stretches, I was having major episodes on a quarterly basis. I still have chronic back pain but without the stretching, it would be far, far worse.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30732562.post-9318757081040804812009-01-21T19:15:00.000-08:002009-01-21T19:15:00.000-08:00I suffered with back pain all my life, been to cou...I suffered with back pain all my life, been to countless chiropractors and will also have my black belt at 50.
If you get the opportunity go to someone that does Rolfing, its a sysem of soft tissue manipulation similar to trigger point therapy.

What it does is realign the body structurally and harmonize it in relation to gravity.

Been going for about 6 weeks now and from my first visit its the first time in 10 months I've been without pain.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
